Symptoms. Many people don’t experience any symptoms when they contract this virus. Those who do usually develop them a few days after they have become infected. A few of the most common symptoms that a person can experience include fatigue, joint pain, conjunctivitis, headache, and vomiting. Some may also develop Guillain Barre syndrome. Women who are pregnant are affected the most seriously though since their babies are often born with severe birth defects, such as microcephaly. Microcephaly is a condition wherein a baby’s head is much smaller than the rest of their body. There is also a high risk of a woman having a miscarriage because of this condition.
