Symptoms. Symptoms from hemorrhoids vary from person to person. Some may have no symptoms at all. For those with symptoms, itching, pain and bleeding are the most common complaints. Itching and pain around the anus and can be mild or severe. Some people may experience itchy or painful lumps or swollen areas around the anus. Bleeding from a hemorrhoid may occur with bowel movements. Blood may be seen on the toilet paper or in the toilet bowl. Rectal bleeding should always be checked out by a doctor, to rule out more serious conditions.
