Causes. The origins of brain lesions are diversified and vary from one person to the other. Common causes of brain lesions are: an injury of the skull, exposure to harmful chemicals, aging, family genetic problems, poor diet leading to high levels of cholesterol in your body, toxins and certain diseases, among others. These causes lead to the damage of tissues in the brain and consequently leading to injuries of muscles and veins. In most cases, blood flow in the brain becomes a problem, and some cells end up dying due to a lack of sufficient blood. Depending on the cause of the brain lesion its effect and location will vary.
