Explaining the Causes of OCD

While OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) is frequently used as an adjective to describe someone who is concerned with germs or likes to keep things organized a certain way, it is a very serious condition that can have a serious impact on people’s lives. In fact, severe cases of OCD can be debilitating, preventing people from doing ordinary daily tasks.

Information. OCD is a mental illness characterized by obsessive thoughts and/or compulsive behaviors. While most people think of OCD as a fear of germs or a desire to be clean and organized, there are many ways that this condition manifests. Some people only experience obsessive thoughts while others have accompanying compulsive behaviors. The types of thoughts and behaviors vary based on the individual with OCD.
