Shingles is an incredibly itchy and painful rash that is caused by same same virus as the chicken pox. This virus is known as the varicella zoster virus, or the herpes zoster virus more commonly. There are many signs of shingles. While the outbreak itself is a good indicator, there are many signs an outbreak will occur.
Rash. When an episode of the virus activates, the most common thing to see is a rash. Unlike many other rashes, a shingles rash is incredibly painful to the touch. It forms blisters that are full of fluid. The good news about a shingles virus is that it tends to only appear in one area of the body at a time.
